Top 6 activities for the Easter holidays

If you’re a bit stuck for what to do with the kids over the next two weeks, read on for some inspiring suggestions.

  • A class at Fingers & Thumbs: This art and crafts centre is running a range of activities for children over the Easter holidays, including a ‘What’s in your Unicorn?’ ceramic painting workshop and a ‘Bunny Ears Alice Band’ craft workshop. All workshops include a snack and drink and must be booked in advance. www.fingersandthumbsnb.co.uk
  • A workshop at The School of Floristry: The School runs children’s workshops throughout the year for up to 30 children at a time, meaning the kids can learn a new skill and make new friends at the same time. With workshops covering how to make floral cupcakes, table decorations or circlets for their hair, they could come home with any number of fancy decorations for your home. www.theschooloffloristry.co.uk
  • A visit to the Coastal Communities Museum: Open from Easter until November, the Coastal Communities Museum provides fascinating exhibitions on the history of the North Berwick Coastal Ward (which covers North Berwick, Dirleton, Gullane and Aberlady). Alongside the exhibitions, there are simple physics games for children and costumes for them to dress up in. With a lift for prams and buggies also available, it’s easily accessible for families with children of all ages. www.coastalmuseum.org
  • A swim at North Berwick Sports Centre: With a stunning view of North Berwick Law and (on a good day!) the sun streaming in the floor-to-ceiling windows, a visit to North Berwick Sports Centre’s swimming pool is a treat for mums and dads as well as children. We challenge you to find a swimming pool in Scotland with a nicer view!
  • A round of putting: It’s that time of year again when we like to think of ourselves as Scotland’s next golfing star, blissfully ignoring the fact that putting is only one of many skills needed for a round of golf! Still, we can dream! Make sure your reputation remains in tact by making the most of the season and getting out to play as soon as you can.
  • An Easter egg hunt in North Berwick Lodge: If your garden doesn’t seem like much of a challenge to your children anymore, take your Easter egg hunt to the Lodge. Combine that with time spent at the play park and they’ll be entertained for hours!
